Tweed Fishing Codes

Tweed Fishing Codes

There are four Tweed Fishing codes and they form the regulatory framework that everybody who fishes the River Tweed must adhere to.

The River Tweed Commission is the regulatory body that controls fishing along the River Tweed and its tributaries. The River Tweed Commission is one of a number of river fishing bodies across Scotland. The Rivers Tay, Dee, Spey, and Don also all have their own regulatory bodies. They perform a similar function to the Environment Agency in England and Wales.

The River Tweed Commission has produced four fishing codes:

  1. Tweed Angling Code For Salmon (View or download PDF)
  2. Tweed Angling Code For Trout (View or download PDF)
  3. Tweed Angling Code For Grayling (View or download PDF)
  4. Tweed Guidance On Spinning (View or download PDF)

In addition, Tweedhill has its own conventions about preferring fly fishing for Salmon. We do allow spinning at certain times, and on occasions if you are new to Salmon fishing or unable to fly cast.

Permission to spin is determined by the Boatman.
